I recently got one of the best Christmas gifts ever. An electric bass guitar! I’ll get a picture of it up sometime. I’ve already had three lessons. Two private, and one with my brother and sister as a band lesson. I can already play Saved by Grace by Shane and Shane on it.
My brother, my sister, and I made a band. Come January we’re going to have band lessons every other week. When we were coming up with a name my mom suggested ‘The Shire’. From Lord of the Rings. I liked it, more than the other idea ‘The Hobbits’. But then my mom suggested ‘Second Breakfast’, also from Lord of the Rings. We settled on that.
Recently the Red Room was rearranged. Originally, the Red Room was an office. But then it got changed into a library with a piano. Finally we decided to change it into a music room. We moved the guitars from my brother’s room and hung them on the wall in the red room, the drums are in there, along with the piano, and an electric keyboard.
Last Friday my brother got his third guitar. He already had an acoustic and an electric. Now he has two electrics. His guitars now outnumber my dad’s by one.
On Sunday, for the first time ever, I sang in the adult choir musical. Forty minutes straight of singing. My voice was so tired when we were done. But, as I love singing, I enjoyed it.
Six with their fearsome beast shall meet;
Six chosen ones from different walks of life shall seat
at Escariet’s Table.
The Dark One shall fear them,
and they shall fear him.
So goes the first part of Vectomon’s Prophecy, predicting the coming of the next Dragon Riders. On this legend many place their hope. But a legend is all they think it is…
Here is a delicious cookie recipe that does not require chocolate chips. This is a cookie recipe for honey lovers.
1/2 c. butter, softened
1/2 c. brown sugar, packed
1/2 c. honey
1 egg
1 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon mixed w/ sugar (optional)
Preheat oven to 375°. Beat the butter, sugar egg, and honey together until the mixture is smooth. Then stir in the remaining ingredients and stir well. If the dough is too thin, you can ad a few tablespoons of additional flour. Place spoonfuls of ungreased cookie sheets. Makes about 36 cookies.
Toppings: Sprinkle cinnamon and sugar on cookies instantly after taking them from the oven.
Let them cool for a moment, then comes the best part. Eat and enjoy!
When you break an egg you probably always break it on the rim of a bowl. Let me give you a word of advice. Don’t do that! When you do the rim pushes bits of the shell into the white and yolk. No matter how hard you try to get them all out, there will always be pieces of the shell still in the egg. And you probably don’t want that in your food.
Alton Brown always says to break your egg on the counter, or some other flat surface. That way there is less chance of part of the shell getting into the egg.
I will now announce the winners for my poem. I recently held a contest for the best title for this poem. Tied for third we have Fallen Friends and The Fallen. Tied for second are The Pride of a Tree and Forest Whispers. And in first place, thankfully with no tie, is…. drumroll please.
The Heart of a Tree!
Thank you, Sarah Green, for submitting that title. I would like to say that I have a prize for you, but at the moment I don’t have a luxury limo sitting around. But anyway, thank you again.
Yes, I know I haven’t been posting lately. But now about Thanksgiving.
My aunt, my uncle, my grandma, and my grandpa came down. For the first night we stayed up late listening to music. My dad had hooked up his computer to the stereo and controlled iTunes through his iPad. We listened to 80s music, and my uncle kept wondering if my dad could get any cheesier with the music.
For actual Thanksgiving day my dad made dinner. It was so good. He made stuffing, deviled eggs, spaghetti squash, and so many other things I can’t remember them all. And he made turkey, of course! The main dish.
On Friday my aunt took my sister and me to see Tangled. My brother didn’t want to come at first, but he decided that it couldn’t hurt. My mom came also, to make sure we didn’t get lost.
While we were there one of my friends entered the theater. We sat together and watched the movie. We cried at a few parts, especially near the end. Everyone liked it. My mom, my sister, my friend, my aunt, and even my brother!
On Saturday we sat around playing games… and I think it was that day that my grandma made pumpkin pie. So good! It didn’t last more than two days.
Sunday morning my relatives left a little after we went to church. It was fun having them down. They won’t be coming down for Christmas, but they are planning to come down at New Years. I’ll save my Christmas presents for them until then. I’m planning to sculpt them all something, or sew something. I don’t know which. But one bridge at a time! New Years hasn’t come yet!
I know, I should probably start titling them on my own, but I just can’t think of an eye-catching title for this poem. Comment and post your idea for the title!
“Goodbye” seems so final,
“Farewell” so absolute.
“So long” is too tragic,
“Until we meet again” too eloquent
for such trusting friends.
Close friends should say
“See ya soon” instead.
But wouldn’t the world be better
if we didn’t have to say it at all?

In school this year we’ve been doing a writing curriculum that we call OYAN –One Year Adventure Novel. It teaches you how to outline your whole book before you write it and the concepts of a story. I’m working on the story skeleton now. I already have about thirty pages of outlining. You would think we would start writing by now, but I’m still planning out what happens.
After you finish your novel you can enter it in the Student Writers’ Contest at oneyearnovel.com. All finalists of the competition get their novels posted on the website and anyone can read it. I love the ones that I’ve read.
My younger sister has kinda been doing it. But my brother and I are in it full fledged. I’m not sure how much he likes it, but I love it. And I’m sure you would too.
The creator of OYAN is Daniel Schwabauer. He’s written many books such as Runt The Brave
and Runt The Hunted
. I myself haven’t read any of his books, but I aim to find at least one and read it.

NaNoWriMo stands for National November Writing Month. If you’re thirteen or older you can do the adult one, but if you’re to young for that you can do the junior one. I did it last year and reached my goal. In the adult NaNoWriMo your goal is instantly set to 50,000 words. But in the junior one you can choose. This year I’m aiming for 50,000 words though.
The prize for reaching your goal is you can send any story in and get one copy published just for yourself and your family. My dad had it done twice. And even though I won last year, I never got a book of mine done. I will this year, though. I’m determined.
So if you wish, you can join NaNoWriMo. I like it, and hope that you will too. My book this year is going to be called King’s Crown. I’ve thought of it before, and then thought ‘why not’. I couldn’t get an idea for my book anyway. Before November first you aren’t allowed to write any of the actual story. But you’re allowed to outline it.
So I have just a few last words to say to you before I end this post. Ready, set, write!
